HISTORIC ERA - Art

Photography dates are different than 'periodization' dates of other eras which we will use for this series of Galleries which includes the Historical Era, the Modern Era and the Contemporary Era. Historic Era: The earliest photograph was made in 1826 and was a heliography or 'sun drawing' and continues until the first 35mm camera by E. Leitz, a German Optical Company that ushered in the Modern Era in photo-journalism in 1928. Most photographs in this gallery are black and white and made by large or medium format cameras using either glass plate or film formats. Photographs are from The Susan Parish Collection of Photography by various photographers.
